Five of the region's major employers shared the honours at an evening event on October 27, hosted by Radio- Canada's Réjean Blais.
Jury member Aminta Ndiaye notes that the jury was "impressed by the quality of the entries, as well as by the variety of the finalists' initiatives. We encourage all employers in the Eastern Townships to open their doors to a diverse and immigrant workforce, and to implement inclusive managerial practices that promote the integration of all employees."
Louise Gagné, President of Actions Interculturelles, shares that "The Cultural Diversity Awards give us the opportunity to salute the small and large initiatives of employers in the region who welcome and integrate people with their talents, lifestyles, work methods and pride in their origins. Congratulations to these employers who value the contribution of cultural diversity. Congratulations to these employers who value the contribution of Cultural Diversity."
One of the winners of the 2022 Cultural Diversity Awards is Soucy Techno, a company that strives to recruit and hire candidates who are farthest from the job market. In particular, it works with various employability organizations to achieve this. Zelexio is a company where diversity and inclusion are at the very heart of its values. The company has opted for a humanist workplace culture to ensure that the values and culture of each employee are protected. This ensures the cultural, intellectual and moral development of all its staff. Since acquiring the company in 2015, Jardi Foods has promoted diversity, as evidenced by its willingness to hire employees from different backgrounds. Jardi Foods has introduced means of communication in different languages to facilitate communication with the majority of its employees.
A Special Mention was awarded to the National Bank of Sherbrooke. This banking institution stands out in particular for the policies and measures that shape its inclusive corporate culture. However, it was the National Bank's ambition that impressed the members of the jury. In fact, the bank doesn't just stop at policy, it sets itself new targets for the coming years. This is a fine example of how not to stay with the status quo, but to keep up the momentum.
Finally, Moisson Estrie won the Diversity Award, presented by Actions interculturelles and Orientation Travail, in recognition of a company's commitment to diversity and social inclusion.
Difference has become the anchor for all Moisson Estrie employees. Because the company is constantly listening to its employees, it is able to create a climate conducive to retaining people from target groups.
The non-profit organization Actions Interculturelle, with over 30 years of passionate work behind it, knows how to highlight the richness of diversity in terms of seniors, women, young people and employability. Their mission to promote the contribution of diversity and support socio-professional integration for a fairer, more inclusive and prosperous society once again made for an evening rich in emotion and marked by openness to the world!
